Beating Tiredness and Energy Slumps – by eating regularly

I treat clients everyday who want to lose weight, quit binging, stop food cravings, sleep better, have more energy and greater motivation, concentration and much more.

Many clients say to me, “I forget to eat sometimes or I hadn’t time to eat today…”

The truth is the body’s only method of refuelling is using the food we eat and drink as our fuel. Therefore it makes perfect sense to eat more regularly. The problem in today’s society is that we skip meals, we avoid making time to eat properly, to have a balance or a good mixture of foods, we go for high fats, high carbohydrate fast foods, convenience foods…we eat late in the night, we see having breakfast as a complete waste of time…

Walking along the streets, in our cars/on public transport and at our desk as the new norms!!! The health problems as a result of these bad habits is fast being realised with anxiety/mood disorders, sleep issues, confidence issues, weight issues, food allergies/intolerances ( are at an all time high) and much more…

All of the above leads to slow metabolism, poor concentration, lack of motivation, headaches, tiredness, poor sleep patterns, binging and cravings, and so on… We are simple not eating enough of the right kind of foods and to top the negative consequences of this off we are not eating in the right way.

You can beat these by setting your mind to making time to eat smaller portions more often, if you are tired or suffering from adrenal exhaustion you need to eat every 2-3 hours.

You need to include a WIDE variety of WHOLE foods in your diet. No excuses, try new foods.

I’m reminding you that the best thing you can do for you today to boost your energy and your ‘get up and go’ is to have regular consistent healthy meals. Eat ‘little and often’ is best…but not to the extent where you are grazing every 40 minutes on some snack. No matter how busy and hectic your day, plan in a little time to eat…AND TIME TO CHEW THAT FOOD!

It is one of the most important things you can do if you want to improve your health, your energy and your moods.

If you are not hungry first thing in the morning, have a glass of water or a herbal tea at least or you can add a 1/4 teaspoon of some supergreen (chlorella, wheatgrass, barley grass etc.) to a glass of water to really get you off onto a healthy start for the day. This gets your metabolism going and usually about an hour later you will feel hungrier.

Poor eating patterns leads on to a starved and malnourished you. Your body needs the vital nutrients it extracts from the food you eat to fuel you through the day. Today, make a special effort to have a little breakfast or piece of fruit, make some time for a bowl of soup or a healthy sandwich/salad or juice during the middle of the day, have a decent evening meal or dinner.

Take time to really taste and enjoy your food.  It’s really about the QUALITY of the food you eat as opposed to the quantity. Your body can be nourished properly from a wholesome small meal as opposed to a massive meal full of bad fats, starches, sugars and salts…

Most people today are overfed and under nourished.

Unless we turn into robots we can never escape the nutritional needs of our bodies, no matter how much technology improves or how smart we think we are…Healthy food will always be CRITICAL and ESSENTIAL. You do not need a smart phone or smart watch or fitbit to track it or tell you how much sleep you have had…
