Be Your Own Valentine

With love in the air..what a great time to give yourself a special treat or simply do something nice for you, for no reason at all other than …because you love yourself unselfishly.

Is this how your heart feels?

Happy and content!

Love is in the air as St. Valentine’s Day is celebrated this week, but what does love mean? Martin Luther King Jnr said “Love is the only force capable of transforming an enemy into a friend! Something to think aboutOr does love mean you can only feel it or celebrate it when you have someone else to spoil or someone to spoil you?

Romantically this may be true, but the best place love should start is with ourselves. Now this may make you cringe when you hear those words, if so you need to read on!

In the hectic society we live in today, time to do something for ourselves or look after ourselves seems to be a much less of a priority compared with everything else we have to do! However, I am increasingly noticing as I treat people with the common ailments of… not being able to sleep, digestive problems, back ache, IBS, tiredness and so on that the root of the problem generally stems back to tension, stress  or fears that have built up. Later these represent themselves as a problem in the body or disease so you will stop and take stock of what is going on. When the word disease is broken up it looks like DIS- EASE (lack of harmony and inner joy or contentment) in the body.

So where does this dis-ease start? It differs for everyone as we are all made up of the sum total of our experiences, relationships and influences of others. Sometimes these experiences can have an empowering negative effect on us leaving us with a feeling of not knowing who we really are, how we feel or what we want. When this continues over a period of time, lack of self respect, lack of self esteem, lack of self acceptance and lack of self confidence take over.

The good news is, with a little guidance, support, encouragement and self-awareness these feelings can be overturned into positive feelings of love and respect for ourselves.

This Valentine’s why not start to pamper, love and spoil yourself instead of waiting on someone else to do it!…I would love  to hear your comments, so please let me know how you get on?

Happy Valentines!
