Recipes for Life – C is Cooking Up a Storm

R.E.C.I.P.E.S   For life,

Part 3 of 7

The next ingredient into the bowl of life is C…cooking up a storm for yourself! There is simply nothing better than good quality home-cooked food. I do not mean, rip, empty and zap which unfortunately is what many resort to for convenience. If you think of your food as being alive and naturally very high in digestive enzymes, which you need to help you digest the food, think of them as being delicate and very easily destroyed. They are there to help you, they cannot if they have been damaged or killed off in the cooking/handling process. When you eat a diet high in processed or overcooked food without a strong balance of fresh fruit, vegetables, nuts, seeds, salads etc your body quickly  becomes depleted. When it becomes depleted it becomes burdened and your digestive tract may then feel sluggish, inflamed, irritated, bloated, acidic, tired and sensitive. You then just pop rennies, galviscon, nexium or some other prescribed soother to reduce your acidity. The truth is you need to look at what you are eating and how you are eating it.

More often than not when working with clients it is the habits regarding food, their knowledge of foods and their attitude towards food which is where we would work a lot on. If you have the attitude that cooking nutritious meals for yourself is hardship or difficult… then that’s exactly what it will be. When you think-of buying good food for yourself and cooking for yourself as it being an essential step in keeping you healthy and well your attitude towards it will be completely different. Let’s face it we are all busy, we all get tired, there are days when none of us want to cook, that is okay!! I enjoy the odd take-away from time to time or a night out with a meal handed up to me, but 90-95% of the time I control what I put into my body.

You do not have to be a cook or a chef to cook yourself some tasty nutritious meals. All you need to do is start. In the programme I provide you with a recipe which you can easily make for yourself, which uses simple ingredients that us ordinary people can find. Tips to get you started.. if you do not cook any meal from scratch, plan one day a week to experiment. Start with something you really like. If you already cook , then it’s probably time you cooked some different foods. It’s easy to get into the habit of eating the same foods all of the time. Secret ingredient is VARIETY.
