Are You in the Thyroid Trap?

Part 1 of 2

Slowing heartbeat, poor circulation, thinning dull lymph hair, weight change, low energy levels , blood pressure, metabolism and temperature imbalances, mental fogginess, low blood sugars, brittle nails, poor appetite, headaches, infertility, poor vision, memory, low libido, heavy periods, depression, high cholesterol, achy tired legs, difficulty getting out of bed in the morning.

Phew!! What a long list of symptoms for an underactive thyroid! When I had adrenal exhaustion my thyroid was completely out of balance… morning times were always a dread. You may experience the same symptoms whether your thyroid is overactive or underactive, weight gain or weight loss being the biggest difference.

Metabolism is the key function of the thyroid gland. Metabolism is the rate at which your body uses up the energy levels generated from the food you eat. The slower the body’s metabolism becomes…the slower your detox pathways become leading to weightgain, sluggishness, fatique and all of the symptoms mentioned above..

Many people suffer from these undiagnosed and untreated symptoms for many years making life difficult.  “I had my thyroid tested and the doctor said it was fine”. This is true, as you my be borderline ,if this is the case you will be quoted as ‘normal’ due to the testing levels . It is important to note that the thyroid gland, which is situated in your throat beneath your adams apple area produces hormones that affect every major organ and metabolism of every single cell & has a major influence on hormonal function. It is very closely related to adrenal exhaustion which is often the root cause of thyroid gland imbalances. The adrenal glands control the hormonal balance in the body in close association with the master gland of the body. The master gland is known as the hypothalamus. When the adrenals are burned out they then drain others parts of the body too.

The most important thyroid hormone is thyroxine (T4) which is converted to the active hormone (T3) Tri-iodothyronine. The more T3 you produce the faster your metabolism. When your system is stressed your adrenal glands work to control the effects of stress in the body. In doing this it produces Cortisol hormone which prevents or interferes with the conversion of thyroid hormone T4 into the active form T3…Everything ends up going out of balance
